Own energy generation through solar panels

Because of skyrocketing energy costs and with sustainability in mind, Colac chose to invest in solar energy last year.

The goal is to eventually become energy neutral.

Several years ago, Colac already chose to invest in sustainable water use. A water basin of 1.4 million liters was built under the production facility. Continuing this sustainable investment, no less than 954 solar panels were installed on our roof last year.

These provide a total output of 400 680 Wp where the expected yield is 349 794 kWh. This gives us a nice percentage of self-use, 78.5%. This way we end up with a CO2 reduction of 2,545 tons after 20 years.

Sustainability is no stranger to us. For example, 3 years ago we won the Greener Planet Award. Something we are still proud of. Sustainability is a story of many chapters and with the installation of these 954 solar panels another chapter has been closed. We continue to move forward on the path of sustainability.
